An example was set a season ago, detailing what's required to make a wrestling run to state and place on the podium. Dylan Roth reached the podium and Dylan Buis reached state for Oak Hills, but they've both graduated, so the page turns and the story continues.
Sixth-year head coach Joe Campolongo hopes that blueprint bleeds into this year's squad, which features 10 returning starters.
Jack Sounders, David Bauer, Carter Johnson, Dylan Urk, Justin Taylor, Chase Haehnle, Zach Gross, Phil Fall, Adam Goldfuss and Nick Goldfuss return to the starting lineup.
Nick Goldfuss was the Greater Miami Conference champion last season at 170 pounds.
"I really enjoyed seeing the work these guys have put in during the offseason months," said Campolongo. "From the weight room to traveling to two team camps, it's been a very productive summer for them. Some of these kids are ready to take the next step up in progression and get to the next level of competition.
"As a whole, we may fly under the radar a bit after losing four solid seniors from last year's team. I've also really enjoyed seeing the leadership we have on this team with our two captains, Nick Goldfuss and Haehnle."
