Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Owen Huff Boys' Cross Country Jr.
Owen Huff finished in 2nd place at the Lebanon Running Warriors Invitational. He was in 6th place at the halfway point in the race and then worked his way up in the field with an incredibly strong finish!
Cordell Ball Football Jr.
Cordell had 7 receptions for 149 yards and 2 TD's. Making impressive catches, and great returns on special teams. But most importantly, Cordell was a great leader for our team. He continues to be the leading receiver in the GMC, and has really stepped up to be a positive leader for his teammates!
Derion Kidd Football Soph
Derion demonstrated great toughness and grit this week. He had 1 rushing TD, and had 9 receptions for 83 yards and a TD. Derion's work ethic and attitude have been great all season!
Ross Borcherding Boys' Golf Jr
Ross had 2 80's in back to back events at Western Hills CC & Miami Whitewater. Ross holds a 42.9 (9 hole scoring ave.) and also plays on the Highlander lacrosse team.
Brynn Schreck Girls' Soccer Jr.
Brynn, one of the Highlanders’ captains, has been an anchor on the backline all season. This past week, Brynn came up big on the offensive end as well, scoring the equalizer against Lakota West. Whether she’s shutting down opposing attacks or stepping up when her team needs her most, Brynn continues to lead by example. She’s been a true leader and a workhorse for the Highlanders all season. She also excels academically and has earned a 4.15 GPA.
Paige Lint Girls' Tennis Soph
Sophomore, Paige Lint, started the season on fire. She defeated two tough opponents in Centerville and Upper Arlington before being sidelined with a wrist injury. However, the injury has not stopped her from being an excellent teammate. Paige, who is a fantastic tennis player, has turned into an assistant coach as she provides excellent feedback for her teammates. Paige carries a 4.0 GPA while being a member of Student Council. After high school, Paige plans to continue her tennis career in college.
Lucy Schutte Girls' Cross Country Jr.
Lucy has had an outstanding start to the season, finishing as the team’s #2 runner in each of the first two meets. At the Lebanon Invitational, she placed an impressive 6th out of 219 runners, helping lead her team to a first-place finish. Lucy brings a strong work ethic to practice every day and is always willing to push herself and her teammates to be better. She is a great leader who consistently brings a positive attitude and encourages those around her.
Gabi Lowe Girls' Volleyball Sr.
Senior captain, Gabi Lowe earned 22 kills, 4 blocks and a hitting percentage of 0.38 for the week. Gabi leads by example for her team with the hard work, positivity and encouragement she provides her teammates on and off the court.
