Nick Continenza graduated from the University of Akron in 2007 with a bachelor's degree qualifying him to teach high school science.  While at the University of Akron, he competed on the track and field team as a decathlete, where he earned All-Mid American Conference honors four times.  Nick began his track and field coaching career in 2006 and his cross country coaching career in 2010. Before arriving at Oak Hills, he coached at Chardon High School and Cleveland Heights High School.  Nick joined the Highlanders in 2015. He is currently the head boys cross country coach and head girls and boys track & field coach. On the track and field staff, Nick currently coaches the distance athletes and pole vault athletes.  Although he also specializes in long jump, hurdles, sprints, and sprint relays. Nick’s favorite track event is the 4x400m relay and his favorite field event is pole vault.

Jackie Cornelius-Bedel Softball Varsity Head Coach more details

Jackie has been teaching and coaching softball since 2006. On top of a D1 collegiate career, Jackie competed professionally in the states, as well as abroad. Prior to coming to Oak Hills, she taught in Three Rivers Local School District and coached at Mount Notre Dame High School. Jackie graduated from Cleveland State University in 2005 with a Bachelor's of Arts, and has a Master's Degree from the University of New England. Jackie is a 2012 Oak Hills Hall of Fame Inductee and is a 2001 graduate of Oak Hills High School, where she was a three sport athlete. Jackie has two children, Kameron (Oakdale) and Kennedy (Dulles) who both attend Oak Hills schools. Jackie and her family reside in Bridgetown.

I have been coaching Lacrosse at Oak Hills for the last 6 years by volunteering with the organization, assistant coach for the JV team and Head JV coach.  Prior to that I coached Pee Wee Hockey for 2 years.  I have been playing Hockey myself, for over 25 years.

 I am the proud owner of Nanny Belle's Ice Cream shop in Blue Ash at Summit Park.  My wife is Jill Donnellan, the former school nurse at C.O. Harrison elementary.  My 3 stepsons all graduated from Oak Hills.  We are an Oak Hills Family

Teri Egbers is the Girls' Varsity Golf Coach.  She has been the head, varsity coach since 2016.   She was the Oak Hills Middle School Girls' golf coach for 4 years & the Bridgetown Middle School Boys' golf coach prior to moving to varsity. The goal of Oak Hills Girls Golf is to inspire young ladies to learn and enjoy the sport of golf and it's diverse athletic and emotional challenges and successes. Building comradery & self-esteem is foremost, while improving golf skills. Teri is an Oak Hills Alum who lives, works & coaches in Oak Hills. She is the counselor at Bridgetown Middle School.  She and her husband, Dan, have 4 children with diverse athletic talents in golf, soccer, lacrosse & cheerleading.

Shellie Hageman Girls Cross Country Varsity Head Coach more details

Shellie Hageman has been the Head Girls Cross Country Coach since 2000. In addition to coaching Cross Country, she spent 8 years working with the track and field program. During those years, Shellie has coached a two time individual state champion, had a team place 6th at state, and has won 2 league and district titles. Along with her husband, they founded the OHYA track and field program in the Oak Hills district that provides opportunities for athletes to compete in track and field in grades K-6. She sits on the CYO Track and Field board and coaches the Springmyer track team, as well as the districts 5th and 6th grade track team. Coach Hageman is an Oak Hills High School alumni and was inducted into the athletic Hall of Fame in 2013. Collegently, she competed for the University of Cincinnati in both Track and Field and Cross Country. Coach Hageman teaches at Springmyer Elementary as an Intervention Specialist and lives in the Oak Hills district with her husband Ben and their three daughters, Julia (13), Annabelle (11), and Josie Bea (5).

My name is Robin Hoernschmeyer, I’ve been the Head Girls Bowling Coach at Oak Hills High School since 2012.  I am a 2005 Oak Hills graduate who attended the University of Cincinnati earning my degree in Middle Childhood Education.  Many students have seen me around as I was a substitute teacher in the district for 6 years before taking a full-time coordinator position with the American Cancer Society.  I myself am an avid bowler, bowling pretty much my entire life. I was a member of the Oak Hills Girls Varsity Bowling team from 2003-2005. During the 2004-2005 season my team and I advanced to the state tournament, placing 5th as a team and I placed 2nd overall individually.  I grew up in Delhi and still live in Delhi with my family and our 7 pets. During my coaching career I have had 3 teams place 1st in the GMC, I have received the GMC Coach of the Year twice and have had numerous bowlers make 1st and 2nd team All-Conference. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with so many outstanding student athletes at Oak Hills and cannot wait to see what next season holds!

Scott Kinkley graduated from The Ohio State University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in History and Geography. While attending Ohio State, he competed for the Buckeyes as a High Jumper on the Track and Field team earning Academic All Big Ten honors three times. Scott earned his teaching certification and Masters in Education from the University of Notre Dame. Prior to joining the Oak Hills staff in 2016, he began his teaching and coaching career at St. Joseph School in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to his position as a Social Studies teacher, Scott brings five years of coaching experience and has served as Oak Hills Varsity Assistant Coach in Track and Field and Cross Country for the past three years. As a new head coach, he is excited to continue the tradition of developing talented athletes on the track while pushing them to be great students and valuable members of the Oak Hills community.

Darien McDowell Boys Volleyball Varsity Head Coach more details

Darien McDowell II, Class of 2013, is in his first season as the head men's volleyball coach at Oak Hills High School.

McDowell as a player, holds records at Oak Hills for attacks in a match, aces in a season, and is amongst the top in rankings for kills in a season, attempts in a season, serve-receive, and digs in a season. McDowell also served as a team captain and was voted most valuable player his senior year. McDowell received recognition as 2nd Team All Ohio, 1st Team All Region, 1st Team All GMC, and GMC Athlete of the Year, under Chris Morman in 2013. McDowell and the 2013 Highlanders were undefeated GMC Champions, placed 3rd in the region, climbed to a top 5 in state ranking, and finished with a record of 18-4, which is the program’s most wins and least losses in a season.

McDowell started his coaching career at Finneytown High School as a girl’s JV head coach in 2018, and then took over as the varsity head coach in 2019. The 2019 Wildcats had their best season since 2009 with an undefeated out of conference schedule, district final appearance, climbing to as high as number 4 in the region in the Coaches’ Poll, and a 9-14 record on the season. McDowell also served as a boy’s JV head coach and varsity assistant roll in 2019 for Walnut Hills High School during their undefeated ECC championship season. McDowell aided in the Eagles receiving the  AVCA Team Academic Award, a national recognition for team GPA.

In addition to his work at the high school level, McDowell was added to the Thomas More University men’s volleyball coaching staff as the head strength and conditioning coach and assistant coach for the Saints in 2019. McDowell also served as a strength and conditioning coach for the University of Cincinnati’s #1 overall ranked women’s club volleyball team in 2019-2020.

McDowell played Division I and III football at Morehead State University and Mount St. Joe University before finishing school at the University of Cincinnati as a health science major and marketing minor. McDowell’s sister, Ashley, was a state runner up in 2005 at Mother of Mercy HS, and played volleyball at the University of South Florida.

Mike was the first Girls' Lacrosse Coach at Oak Hills and helped start the program 4 years ago with two other past players Athena Caneris and Olivia Lang, who are now both Assistant Coaches for the team.  Mike's daughters Colleen and Shannon have also helped coach the Varsity and JV teams.  He was the Girls' Lacrosse GMC Coach of the Year in 2019.  Mike started coaching boys' lacrosse with his son and later helped start a girls' lacrosse middle school team with his daughter Shannon.  He went on to coach the Girls' JV Lacrosse team at Seton High School for 3 years while his two daughters played on the Varsity Lacrosse team at Seton.  He really enjoys teaching the game of girls' lacrosse and looks forward to another great Highlander Girls' Lacrosse season.

Ryan Quinn Wrestling Varsity Head Coach more details

Ryan Quinn has been actively coaching Wrestling since 2014.  His first two years of coaching include volunteer experiences at the High School and Youth levels – Montabella High School (MI) and Michigan West Wrestling Club.  As Ryan continued his education at Bethel College (IN), he was named the Head Middle School and Varsity Assistant Coach for Niles Community Schools (MI).  As head middle school coach for Ring Lardner, Coach Quinn developed young wrestlers in all technical aspects of the sport.  Coach Quinn also helped lead Niles to a top 4 team finish in the State of Michigan (Division II), as well as coached two all-state student athletes (6th & 2nd). 

Upon the completion of the 2016-2017 wrestling season, Coach Quinn was named the Head Wrestling Coach of Ancilla College – a Junior College located in Plymouth Indiana.  In his one-year stint at Ancilla, Coach Quinn managed to have four NWCA NJCAA Academic All-Americans and one NJCAA National Qualifier. 

Collegiately, Ryan competed for Central Michigan University – a Division I program.  While at CMU, he studied Biomedical Sciences and Chemistry and was a two-time Varsity letter-winner for the Chippewas.  Coach Quinn was also the Wrestling representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where his involvement aided to bridge relations between CMU’s athletic programs and the Community.  Ryan Quinn was a two-time state qualifier for the Highlanders and graduated from Oak Hills in 2010.  Coach Quinn looks forward to giving back to the Oak Hills Community, while continuing the rich tradition of great wrestling for his Alma Mater. 2018 will be Coach Quinn's first season as the Highlanders Head Coach.

Sara Redman Girls Volleyball Varsity Head Coach more details

Sara Bachus Redman is a graduate and Hall of Fame member of Seton High School. During her prep career, she was a four year letter winner at Seton, including First Team All-State selection both her junior and senior years, along with the honors of GGCL Player of the Year both years as well. Redman led her team to a Division 1 State title her junior year and a semi-finalist her senior year. After high school, Redman went on to play at Xavier University. She led the Musketeers to an impressive 90-32 overall record. 

Redman coached at Seton from 2002-2005 and 2008-2010. In between those years, she coached both boys and girls at Chaminade Julienne High School in Dayton, Ohio. In 2007, she earned rights to GGCL and GCL Coach of the Year.

Coach Roden is a veteran coach with 19 years of experience, during that time he led East Central High school to a 4A state championship in 2017, three regional championships, a state runner-up berth, and five Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference championships. He was the Indiana Football Coaches Association 4A Coach of the Year in 2017, and five-time EIAC Coach of the Year.

A defensive coordinator for the Highlanders in 2006-2008, Coach Roden spent a combined eight years as a head coach of Noblesville High School and East Central High School, both in Indiana. He served as a defensive backs coach at Colerain High School for five years, and was associate head coach at Mount Healthy High School and special teams coordinator for the College of Mount St. Joseph. 

In his seven years at East Central, he led teams to 35 wins and three consecutive regional championships, all firsts in the school's history. At Colerain, he was part of the 2004 state championship season. Besides spanning high school and collegiate programs, Coach Roden's coaching experience includes both small- and large-school experience.

Bill Schroer brings (10+) years of experience at the varsity level as a Varsity Assistant Coach.  He is also a long time club coach on the West Side of Cincinnati and is currently coaching three teams at Cincinnati West including two Academy Elite teams and one Academy Red team.  Athletic Director, Tony Hemmelgarn, had this to say about Coach Schroer, “We interviewed many quality candidates. What stood out about Bill was not only his passion for the sport, but for his commitment to developing young men and pushing them to create a great team and program experience.  I am excited to see what the future holds!”
His vision includes uniting the Oak Hills community from the youth level through high school so everyone is excited about the prospect of competing and succeeding at Oak Hills and in the  challenging GMC.  Coach Schroer say, “I am excited for the opportunity of leading my alma mater, as a former player and graduate of Oak Hills High School. I look forward to the challenge of pushing our student athletes to achieve success in both the classroom and on the pitch.”
He is married to Lynn and has two boys Nicholas (13) and Michael (9).

My name is Mindi Shay and I have been coaching cheerleading for the last 20-plus years. This is my sixth year as the head coach at OHHS; I was an assistant for two years prior.  While coaching at Oak Hills, we have been State Champions (‘16, '19), State Runner-ups (‘15, '20), and Conference Champions ('18, '19).  I am looking forward to another successful year at Oak Hills!

Brandon Unthank has been coaching Oak Hills High School in diving since he graduated from Oak Hills in 2004; first as an assistant and taking over the head coaching responsibilities in 2006. He has been very active in the world of diving also coaching at various local swim clubs in the summer, schools in the the winter, club diving year round with his traveling team, as well as starting up his own diving clinic at Oak Hills in 2007. Brandon graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2012 with a degree in Middle School Education (Mathematics and Science) where he currently works in the district as a full time sub at Rapid Run Middle School. He is married to his wife Chelsea Unthank and they are raising twin boys, Liam and Riley, as well as expecting their third boy late this summer!

I have coached the Academic Team since 2013.  I am currently sharing the coaching responsibilities with Mike Taylor.  My overall record in 7 seasons is 50-58.  The easiest answer if you are wondering. Academic Team is like Jeopardy for High School students except that it is played as a team of 4.  I absolutely love coaching these students.  They are very self motivated amazing young people and if we have to make a stop when traveling, people are always very complimentary on how well behaved and polite they are.  They always make me proud to be a Highlander.
Personally, I am an Eastsider having graduated from Moeller High School.   I then earned a Bachelor's Degree in German Studies from the University of Cincinnati.  After a career of working in construction materials distribution, I went back to school and earned a Master's of Education from Xavier University and have been at Oak Hills since 2013 as one of the German teachers.  I am married and have 3 boys.   The oldest already graduated from Moeller and the other two attend St Michaels in Sharonville.
