A 1975 graduate of Oak Hills High School, Coach has dedicated more than four decades to educating, coaching, and serving the Oak Hills community. He graduated from Wittenberg University in 1979 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business and Economics before attending the University of Cincinnati from 1979–1982 to complete his education degree. He began his career with Oak Hills Local School District in 1979 and has served as a Business Education teacher and coach at both Delhi Junior High School and Oak Hills High School. Throughout his teaching career, he has taught courses including Accounting, Sports Management, Personal Finance, and Business Law. In addition to his teaching and coaching responsibilities, he has served as an Assistant Athletic Director for more than 25 years. His basketball coaching career at Oak Hills spans more than four decades, including over 30 years as a head coach and 11 years as an assistant coach. During his tenure, his teams have captured two Cincinnati Boys Basketball City Championships, eight league championships, made nine district final appearances, and finished as a regional runner-up. Coach has received numerous honors throughout his career, including nine League Coach of the Year awards, four of which came in the Greater Miami Conference, and multiple Cincinnati-area Coach of the Year honors. He is a two-time Southwest Ohio Basketball Coaches Association District 16 Coach of the Year and a two-time Greater Cincinnati Basketball Hall of Fame Coach of the Year recipient. He was also selected to coach in the 2010 Ohio North-South All-Star Game. His commitment to leadership, sportsmanship, and education has been recognized well beyond wins and losses. In 1998–99, he received the Ohio High School Athletic Association Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity Award. He was honored with the Oak Hills PTA Friend of Education Award for the 2015–16 school year, the VFW Teacher of the Year Award in 2016–17, and was named a 2017 Talbert House Father of the Year. In 2026, Coach added several prestigious honors to his distinguished career, earning All-City Co-Coach of the Year, OHSBCA District 16 Coach of the Year, and OHSBCA State Coach of the Year recognition. Beyond Oak Hills, Coach has made a significant impact on basketball throughout Greater Cincinnati and Ohio. He founded and operated Cincinnati's first area AAU boys basketball program and has coached AAU basketball for nearly four decades, including his involvement with Shining Star. The program has helped more than 450 high school players continue their basketball careers at the collegiate level. His AAU teams have competed across age groups from 13U through 17U, with the program growing to as many as 17 teams in a single season. His 17U teams also established a strong national presence, finishing among the top 20 at the AAU National Championships in 17 of 23 appearances. Coach also served nine years as the Ohio AAU Boys Basketball Chairperson and has held numerous leadership and service roles throughout the basketball community. He has served as Chairman of the Southwest Ohio Basketball Coaches Association District 16 Cincinnati East-West All-Star Game, is a member of the Greater Cincinnati Coaches Hall of Fame Advisory Committee, and serves on the Advisory Board for the Bluegrass-Buckeye Charity Classic. His community involvement has also included coaching the Junior/Senior Boys Basketball Team at Our Lady of Victory for 10 years and serving on the Oak Hills Education Foundation Advisory Board. A lifelong Highlander, Coach's decades of service as an educator, coach, administrator, and mentor reflect an extraordinary commitment to Oak Hills High School, its student-athletes, and the Greater Cincinnati community.
