Sunset Recap, Week #2

Sunset Recap

It was great to finally get to see the guys race after 11 weeks of training. The anticipation was high leading into our races and the team handled the pressure well. The Sunset Invite is an extremely competitive meet; likely the highest average team strength of any meet we will attend this season. As intimidating as this setting was for our new guys, we had lots of great surprises!

Athletes of the Week

Varsity

Bryce Korb- Bryce finished 4th for the Highlanders at the Sunset Invite with a new personal best time of 18:10. Now a junior, Bryce has some very lofty goals this season and looks to be a guy that his team will be able to rely on to give his full effort and lead by example.

Corbin Hazlett- Corbin ended the summer a bit behind on training, but has really impressed the coaches with how consistent his effort has been in practice. Little by little he has caught up with his training and proved it with a 27 second personal best at the first race!

Saturday Run On Your Own

All runners should get in a 30 minute EASY run today (Saturday). Go EASY, this is important for your recovery after the race. The only guys who shouldn't run are those who are dealing with small injuries. Sunday is off completely.

Practice This Week

Monday- 3-5:30pm

Tuesday- 3-5pm

Wednesday- 6-7:30am AND 3-4pm

Thursday- 3-5pm

Friday- 6-7:30am

Saturday- 5:30am bus to Lebanon Invitational

Sunday- day off

Team Dinner

The team dinner this week is on Thursday at Ryan Kraus' house. Their address is 6188 Cleves Warsaw Pike. Please plan to arrive by 5:30 after practice. You must take a shower before showing up to team dinner.

Lebanon Meet

Please notice that the bus time has changed to a 5:30am departure. This is due to a shift in the meet schedule. With this being our first Saturday morning race, a couple items require your attention: we start 6am Friday practice and you need to plan ahead for the early bus (pack your bag the night before, set an alarm, plan out your breakfast). The bus won't wait if you are late, so please figure out your ride to the high school ahead of time. See that attached sheet for more details.
